In which Precious speaks her mind

I'm sure the title of this post isn't too much of a surprise, but the way events unrolled was an amusing surprise for us.

Today, we set out to procure fishing stuff for New Daddy. First, a stop at our in-town, old-guy fly shop. Second, a trek to Bass Pro.

Detour: Santa was still at Bass Pro. Precious begged to see Santa, and Bubby chimed in. When we reached the line shortly before 5:00, the next slot was 7:00, after Santa's dinner break. We took a time slot-card, finished our shopping, and went out for dinner.

Side note: Those who know us know that we have never attempted to make our dear children believe a story about a fuzzy old man who circles the globe in a sleigh on Christmas Eve. Whoah, did I just write that? It sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Onward...

We returned to Santa and joined the 7:00 line. At some point between the start of the ropes and Santa's frilly sleeves, Precious decided that she wasn't excited about seeing Santa after all, and she was not going to sit in that strange man's lap. This was more the reaction we would have expected from Bubby, who tends more towards shyness, but not really.

When we got to Santa, New Daddy set Bubby on Santa's lap, and Precious refused repeatedly, albeit with little pressure from us either way. Then, she stood on the side with us while Bubby had his picture taken with Santa. Santa gave Bubby a small candy cane and offered one to Precious. She refused. As we were leaving, the nice man who monitored the line got a candy cane from Santa and offered it to Precious once again. Finally, she accepted a candy cane, via this third party, from Santa.

Don't you just love a little lady who knows her mind and who won't have anything to do with a man she knows nothing about? Gotta love that gal!
