Spring is here!

And that means Poppy and Mimi are here for spring break! Poppy has been hard at work on outdoor play stations for all of his grandkids. Za and E are getting a tree house; Precious and Bubby are getting a swing set with a platform and a slide. Poppy's only plans are in his head, and what he can accomplish is amazing.

Spring also means that it was time for us to take a trip to the Botanical Gardens. For this year's trip, we focused on the children's garden, instead of trying to cram in the whole expanse into one visit. Also, we only stayed for the two hours between Bubby's morning nap and afternoon nap.

The children were dressed in their matching "frog" outfits (can you imagine how excited Precious gets over having a frog on her dress?). At first, the weather was a little too chilly for their outfits, and they needed their sweaters. But, it had warmed up nicely by the time we left. I've realized that the "gah-dens" are quite the place for yuppy-ish Atlantans to take their children. Hmmm... that would be not me. We still had a great time, despite having to dodge strollers with names that I can't pronounce.

Today was a day on the go. We got back from the gardens just before 2:00, ate lunch, and turned around to go back out. This late-afternoon trip to Home Depot was a doosie.

We went to get a porch swing and to fill a lengthy order of bolts, nuts, and washers for the swing set while Poppy stayed at the house and worked. They didn't have any swings, and it took us forever to ring up the hardware at the self-checkout. Then, just as we had reached a complete quandary of what to do, Precious announced, "I ha' tee-tee!" and started prancing around in the buggy. I dropped everything, scooped her up, and we ran to the restroom-- at the back of the store. Precious quite enjoyed the commotion, and exclaimed to everyone in passing the reason that we were running.

And, we made it! I must also mention that my brother in-law's tips on toilet wrapping served us well. Did I mention that we had already been to the grocery store, and we had ice cream waiting in the car? It made some yummy milkshakes when we got home!

By the time we returned to the checkout, Mimi was paying. I glanced at the receipt before we walked away and realized that we hadn't paid for the smaller washers and nuts. So, we had to go back and ring up a new order. The total was $1.48 (including the Necco wafers that Precious had picked up-- by far the most expensive item). At least we can sleep with a clear conscience tonight.

Judging from Precious' endless fascination with her new ladder and slide, I'd say that the better part of our summer is going to be spent out of doors. Yay for vitamin D, and thank you, Poppy!

Hi New Mommy! The kids are so cute! Please come to Florida and join us in yuppy-town... our Chicco umbrella stroller just doesn't cut it down here! And, neither does our Honda for that matter! Either way life is good. It sounds like you all are doing well, too. I'll talk to you again soon! ~Brooke

Hi Brooke! We do need to come see you! I'm sure New Daddy would love to do some fishing down there! Meanwhile, we could both bum around town with our "subpar" Hondas and adorable babies!
