New Daddy's favorite cookies (so far)

I made the chocolate chip version of these cookies late last week. New Daddy suggested the other day that I should replace the chocolate with raisins and add walnuts for the optional cup of chopped nuts. I made the necessary modifications and baked them yesterday. Last night, he came home, tasted one, "melted," and declared, "Now, that is my kind of cookie!" Here is the recipe with our changes.

Raisin Walnut Oatmeal Cookies

1 3/4 c all purpose flour (or 2 c soft white wheat flour, mashed into the measuring cup to fill it up)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt (optional)
1/2 tsp cinnamon (an estimation-- I just shook it a few times into the mixture)
1 1/4 c packed brown sugar
1 c butter (2 sticks, unsalted)
1/2 c granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 T milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 c quick or old-fashioned oats (rolled oats)
2 c raisins
1 c coarsely chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in small bowl. Beat brown sugar, butter and granulated sugar in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla extract. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in oats, raisins and nuts; mix well. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 9 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies or 12 to 13 minutes for crispy cookies. Cool on baking sheets for 1 minute; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
