Joining the minivan club

Tomorrow, we join the club. The scary part is that I am excited to be getting a minivan! We will have so much more room! Precious will be able to sit facing forward in her carseat without falling off the rear bench seat of the truck! I will be able to lift my tots out of their middle-row carseats without breaking my back! Car trips will be spent with luggage in the back of the van, not at my feet! Yes, I am excited.

It even has a roof rack, so we can continue our semi-active lifestyle of kayaking and camping. I'm not sure if there's a hitch in the back for the bike rack, but we can always put one in. We're selling the truck, so these details are important.

Here is a picture of our new wheels, a 2003 Honda Odyssey.
The other big news is that New Daddy begins his new job this Wednesday. The new gig involves a 40 hour-only work week, with anything over that billable to the client (and payable to him) as overtime. They also don't have an office for him yet, so he'll be doing some telecommuting during the first few months. With a new baby around, this could be a very good thing, or a not-so-good thing :).

After five years at his old place, it was time for a change. The sad news is that New Daddy is really going to miss working with his brother, Uncle B. The good news is that the new place is a development/consulting firm, not a law firm, so he is the bread and butter of the company, not the techy-servant. It's a little scary to be jumping off like this after five years in the same routine, but we think things will turn out well.

During his job search, he asked the Lord if it was His will, to let things go easily. Just an example of how easily things went, the only technical questions he had to answer were at the recruiter's technical screening. When he went in for his interview with the CEO, he didn't even ask any technical questions! All of that studying for nothin'! Everything has gone incredibly smoothly, and we're very thankful.

P.S. New Daddy finished putting in the Accord's radiator before work this morning. The test drive was his commute :).

Congratulations to Ben, not only for a successful job interview, but for becoming a successful shade-tree auto mechanic! Just like someone else I know.

(ahem--Daddy--)

lol...

I like your new wheels, while I snicker slightly about them being on a minivan. However, a Camry's not that far from a van, so I can't talk much...lol!

I'm so happy for Ben.

it's good to not be the "techy-servant"

Did he have to make the coffee too?
