What a night!

I can't sleep right now, so here I am blogging and baking bread! I finally fell asleep, but I've woken up and can't get back to sleep. This is very unusual for me, so I know I'll catch up on my sleep soon.

Late this afternoon, I picked up New Daddy from work so we could run by the hospital to see Ruthi. When we got there, we were able to catch the doctor's briefing to the family, but visiting hours were over until 8:00. After visiting with Ruthi's family for a few minutes, we drove out to get some supper.

When we came back to the truck from supper, the passenger window was busted out. It had been broken into. At first, we didn't think the person had taken anything, and we figured they must have been discovered and left quickly after busting the window.

New Daddy took me back to the hospital, staying with Precious in the car because the window was busted. I got to go in and see Ruthi; she is still heavily sedated and at the time her blood pressure was rising. The nurses were nervously working with her while we were there. The doctors don't give her a lot of hope for recovery, but we know that they can only give their view as medical professionals. I'm so thankful that the Great Physician is still working.

When I got ready to leave, I called the cell phone to tell New Daddy that I would be coming out, and to meet me at the curb. It rang three times, someone picked up, and then quickly hung up. "Strange," I thought, and dialed again. This time, it went straight to the voice mail. The phone was off.

Ruthi's son escorted me to the truck, where New Daddy had been praying for my safety. There we discovered that the cell phone was indeed gone. Poor guy, we thought-- it was prepaid, and it was a pretty low-tech phone! We knew at this point that we needed to file a police report for insurance, but we didn't feel like being in this part of town this late. We headed home.

On the interstate, New Daddy said something about his iPod. It immediately hit me that I had placed his commuter bag in the passenger side floor, and his iPod was in there. Gradually, the thief's motive hit us, and I felt really naïve for leaving that bag out in plain view. But, guess what's on the iPod? About ten years of Bro. Branham's preaching, fingerstyle guitar music, and gospel music. And, there's a brand new Life Story (59-0419A) cd in the bag.

The iPod and the bag are only things, and they will melt when this world does. But, if a soul is won through all of this, it is beyond value. Sure, it would be nice to get our stuff back, but that is not the most important thing. For Ruthi, and in this new development, God's purpose will be accomplished. We're praying for His will to be done.

Firstly, so sorry to hear of your friend's car accident. Will be keeping her in prayer.

Secondly, very sad about your ipod, phone, etc...but like you said, God might have bigger plans in mind. It's wonderful that the thief might end up hearing the precious Word of God. Praying for both of these situations, that the Lord will move mightily, as 2 lives hang in the balance.

Hope all is well. :-)
