Fall 2020 update

Before things get too crazy, I'm jumping on here to ramble about our latest goings-on.

Our little car is having transmission problems, and the price tag from the mechanic is way too steep to justify keeping the car, so we need prayer for the direction of that! After New Daddy finishes the bathroom, he'll have a look at the car... either the flywheel or the clutch. If it's the clutch, which is located inside the transmission, the car is toast. He had a ton of days to take off because no one in our country took any time off from March to August... plenty of days left over. He's actually transferring five days to next year, thanks to a generous HR policy.

And... during those days, we're going to take a multi-day trip to Universal in Orlando for the kids' Christmas present. Trips, not stuff. They'll still get a few thingies in stockings, but we're not doing thing-things this year. Yay!

So, we've finished school meetings. We made it through the fall semester without having to close down from any outbreaks! I did get to sub for challenge classes two weeks in a row, once due to some sickness, and again because the tutor had a home closing. Challenge is so fun!! For the tutors, at least :). The students work their tails off, but it's an awesome curriculum. The kids will continue with math, SAT prep, and other non-CC subjects through the break when we're not on the road.

The bathroom's current status:

There's water in the laundry sink and shower head (!), and the tub is now the same color as the leftover paint from the kitchen backsplash: Benjamin Moore Cream Fleece, plus three coats of poly to protect it. No more adventurous, turquoise "Lake Victoria". Since I took this photo, we've actually installed (and almost lost our sanity during this installation) a stick-to-the-wall backsplash above the sink. But, New Daddy has the tub out in the office floor while he's plumbing it and I'm not going move the tub back to re-take the photo.

During all of his time off this fall, he's also installed the shower curtain ring on the ceiling... this involved filling, repainting, and poly-ing it, since it was originally designed to anchor to the wall and the ceiling. But we can't really anchor anything to the tile, so the ceiling it is. The support rings came from Amazon, and they were a tad too small for the rod. So he heated and stretched them and painted them to match the rod! He is so cool. That, or we just do everything the hard way to save money, lol! He's also been busy with baseboards and caulk this week... pre-tub installation stuff. The toilet will go in after the tub.

I couldn't find a decent vanity mirror to save my life, so I asked around on Facebook. The majority of recommendations were for the At Home store. Y'all, I think I've found my new favorite store. We found the perfect mirror at an acceptable price... plus lots of other things that I love! It's a really great place.

This is the type of joy that our youngest child gives to my life:

While we were cuddling on the couch, "Mom, don't kiss me. It would be the wrong cheek."

Yep, apparently my and New Daddy's cheek germs aren't allowed to mix. I died laughing.

Happy Fall, y'all!
