End of the endless summer of 2020

Does it feel like summer started mid-March and sort of never let up? Anyway..

We did do math most of the summer with Precious and Bubby, but they start school next Monday. Our governor opened the state back up at the end of April, and our school group has decided to meet, masks optional. The point of community is to see people and do life together, so if there is another shut down, we'll either go to homes or wait and gather when things open up again. No more online learning... yay!

At the beginning of summer, about two weeks before our camping trip, we realized that Davidson River campground wasn't planning to reopen until August. After some scrambling around, we secured reservations at a Georgia state park. Then, a few days later, Davidson River opened back up! Anyway, we were happy to have our old place back (with only a $10 cancellation fee for the state park), and we stayed closer to the swimming hole. It did rain, and the forecast almost made us stay away. But we arranged our arrival to set up the tent in the sunshine, and it rained mostly at night. We need to reseal our rain fly, hahaha. It wasn't bad, but there are definitely some *places*.

One of the funniest, "Family Circus" moments of the summer was the worst drive thru order we've ever produced. This is how the breakfast order went down at McDonald's:

New Daddy, to Cutie: "What do you want?"

Cutie: "Chicken minis"

ND: "You can get a burrito, McMuffin, or a biscuit. Which one do you want?"

Cutie: stares at daddy (like, I just ordered)

Tater pipes up: "I'd like a burrito!"

ND, to drive thru: "A breakfast burrito..."

Drive thru lady: "sweet tea?"

ND, (quickly): "Yes."

Bubby: "Yesssss!" (because he'd already asked for sweet tea and been turned down)

ND, to Cutie: "What do you want?"

Cutie: "Chicken minis" (at which point the teenage peanut gallery in the back seat about explodes)

ND: "THIS ISN'T CHICK FIL-A."

Drive thru: "What was that??"

Me: "Just get her a burrito."

ND, to drive thru: "...Annnd a breakfast burrito."

We howled and laughed. Cutie's occasional cluelessness is a gift to us all... patience, laughter...

Here are a few photos from Davidson River:
We made Tater put his rock collection back in the river.

Cousin E2 is so adorable!

Ahead of time, Precious made yummy, paleo quiche muffins for a grab-and-go breakfast when we packed up. The weather was quite chilly in the nights/morning.

We spotted one of Brevard's famous, white morph squirrels.

Our setup- we got a week-long cooler before this trip, and it kept our stuff so cold!

Klondike bars from Bilo before heading home

We also made it down to see Mimi and Poppy and visit the beach the weekend of July 4th. The Little Pee Dee has had so much rain that it hasn't been very little lately, so we haven't gotten to kayak it this year. We shopped first and arrived to Huntington Beach SP later in the day; so the crowds were pretty low. After it got dark, we went out for seafood, Poppy and Mimi's first sit-down meal out of the house since March. We had a great time, and the food was awesome. The restaurant next door was shooting fireworks, and after we ate, we were able to see many clusters of fireworks along the coast. It was a great evening.

Photos from the beach...

It's great having a daughter who enjoys fixing my hair!

So... we had a great summer! We adventured a good bit, and we had some wonderful times with family. Most importantly, we've been loving the services from the Eagles Gathering Together schedule on Branham.org. What a blessing!! We feel closer to the Lord, our brothers and sisters across the world, and to the rapture than we ever have.
