Update

Wow. Where have I been this month? Well, mostly outside, and a probably a little too much on facebook. It's been a surprisingly beautiful- and warm- March. Our twenty Australorp (pullet) chicks arrived this Tuesday. It's hilarious to wake them up; the second I say "hello," they all scatter to the corners of their box. The Buff Orpington hens are getting used to laying eggs again. I can usually find 4-5 per day. Methinks someone is not pulling her weight. But the yolks are a gorgeous, deep orange. Oh, how I love those beautiful yolks. They're so wonderful, I can forgive the two hens that aren't laying anymore.

Baby boy is getting more and more active. It's fun to stare at my stomach and watch the whole thing move. And with the larger baby comes reduced mobility for Mama. Instead of zipping around (this would make New Daddy snicker; his legs are at least a third longer than mine), I'm gradually becoming a slow waddler. But this fourth time around, I just find it funny, instead of an inconvenience. I had an appointment with a midwife at the more local office, and she helped allay my fears that this practice might be incapable of supporting a natural birth. She laughed as she told me about the client whose babies she caught not once, but three times in the toilet. Yep, sounds like I'm in good hands. Nothing was mentioned about my failure to show up at the maternal fetal specialist. Thumbs up.

Cutie is quickly becoming my number-one helper. This past Monday, when Precious was laid up in bed with a virus, Cutie ran down to the basement and returned with her arms loaded with the bottled waters that we needed for school. Then, she put them in the respective backpacks. Today, when Precious didn't want to clean the school room, Cutie readily volunteered. Mwuah- how I love this age!

Precious had her first riding lesson last Saturday. You may recall the cowgirl-themed birthday party we had for her a couple of months ago. Part of her birthday present was a riding skirt, helmet, and some lessons. We'll continue going every other week for at least a few more months, just to help her get the hang of it. Then, maybe once a month? We'll see how it goes; she absolutely loves it.

Bubby is my sweetheart. And New Daddy's wrestling buddy. And a tiger, Indian, and puppy dog-- depends on the mood. He keeps us all entertained. Sometimes, he keeps his sisters a little too entertained by aggravating them; but he's improving in this area. He consistently eats more than his pregnant mama at breakfast. If I'm having two eggs, he's having three. This morning, I had three slices of bacon; he had six. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. And he loves my beef liver and onions. I need to post that recipe soon. Even Precious is getting to the point that she can eat it without gagging.

Speaking of eggs, bacon, and cholesterol... my recent blood levels showed an HDL/LDL ratio of 1.5. I was at the absolute lowest normal level of LDL, and was at the top of the normal HDL range. As if we needed more proof that dietary cholesterol has nothing to do with blood cholesterol levels? All of my other levels looked great, too. It's one thing to eat a certain way for five years, and an even better thing to look at the blood test results that tell you to keep up the great work.

Thank you, Dr. Weston A. Price.

"You're welcome!"

Also thanks to this way of eating, I can't wait to see how calm, strong, and intelligent our new boy will be!
