Spring Break trip to Florida

Well, almost a month after the last post, here I am again! It was a busy end-of-April, and I didn't find time to sit down and write about our life. A week after my last post, we hopped in the car for a week-long trip to Florida. New Daddy didn't get his Christmas vacation, so for Mimi's spring break, Poppy and Mimi rented a house for us near Orlando.

I was "last minute" getting reservations-- two weeks in advance, and the only time that I found for the Princess Breakfast was Monday morning in Epcot. So, Epcot was our Disney day. We knew we adults would enjoy it more than any of the other parks; we joked that a homeschool family would choose Epcot over the other parks if they only had one to choose. Mimi and Poppy babysat Cutie for us while we had a very special day with Precious and Bubby.

Going to Disney early in our trip turned out to be a good move. The kids were rested and went all day without needing too much of a break. On Tuesday, I just wanted to vegetate. But we had planned to go to Silver Springs, and that's what we did. New Daddy went kayak fishing at Mosquito Bay and got stuck in a terrifying thunder storm. I dragged myself around Silver Springs, and we were relieved to see our pillows that night.

On Wednesday, we stayed home and rested. Finally. The kids played in the pool, and we took naps. That night, we went to Downtown Disney and saw enough humanity to keep us satisfied for a while. The kids' favorite part was the toy store, where we bought them some nice souvenirs.

Thursday, it was Sea World. Something that we did that we hadn't done before was feeding the seals. We were surprised at how well Cutie threw the herring! Bubby learned how to do it from watching her. We caught all the shows and finished up the day at Shamu's Happy Harbor- the kids' area.

On Friday, we had planned to go to the petting zoo that Uncle B and Aunt Mo had enjoyed the previous day. But when we went to load ourselves into our van, there were no keys. After searching the house exhaustively, we called AAA to open the van and let us look for the keys. Still no keys. The locksmith called the AAA key-making department, and they brought us a new key for the van. This finished up around 9:00 that evening, and we were grateful that we'd be able to drive home the following day.

We had the car packed up Friday night, so leaving Saturday morning was pretty uneventful. Our checkout time was 11:00, and we were all on the road by 10:20. At 10:53, we got a call from Uncle B. They had found our keys in their glove compartment. Talk about perfect! God always answers right on time.

Last week, though, I discovered that our old key will no longer crank the car, since we had the new key made. Now, that is annoying!

On our way home, we stopped to visit some friends. They had some ponds, and New Daddy finally caught some fish that were worth catching, and minus the thunderstorm. We also had some great fellowship and arrived home early Sunday morning.
