The virus- what worked, what didn't

This may seem morbidly studious; but for me, this is what the blog is for. To help me remember things. Like, during this last stomach virus-- what worked for us, and what did not work.

What worked during the throes of the virus:
Reed's ginger ale (ginger beer, ginger brew, whatever)
nursing

What didn't work during the throes of the virus:
oranges
pineapple
ice chips
bananas

What worked once the stomach settled:
rice pudding- the Smitten Kitchen version was gastronomic therapy, especially when made with Anson Mills' Carolina Gold rice
chicken soup made from homemade stock
Bubbie's lacto-fermented sauerkraut (even made a believer out of our Bubby, who used to not touch the stuff)
Gatorade and Pedialyte (I am loathe to mention, but they were valuable for restoring fluids. The Gatorade was the powdered kind, and the Pedialyte was apple flavored. The kids told Mimi that they had cider, perish the thought.)

What didn't work once the stomach settled:
candy
And the list goes on. We're still recovering, somewhat...
