The milk stays creamy

I can't tell you how elated I am right now! Honestly, this is an answer to prayer. It's just not hard to ask God to protect something He's already promised us. There were at least 150 people at the hearing, with around 50 folks speaking and making excellent points. A state representative was there, and mentioned that she and several other legislators would introduce a bill for human consumption of raw dairy. This battle has been won, and we are ready to press the rest of the way. YAY!!!

The Houston Chronicle was the first to report on the results of the hearing today, but I'm sure Elizabeth Lee will have a forthcoming report in the AJC.

A few of my favorite moments from the hearing...

~When a mom held up milk that she had dyed gray, herself. It was indescribably disgusting, and quite convincing.

~An old-timer quoting Thomas Jefferson on small landowners.

~Hearing that a dog who had cancer (and learning that most dogs die of cancer-- why???) when switched to raw milk, lived an additional two years, and died of old age.

~A dairy farmer citing a Supreme Court case that repealed a law requiring margarine manufacturers to dye their product pink (!) to distinguish it from real butter. The basis of the repeal was that the option to consume and/or dye should be the consumer's.

~It also didn't hurt a bit at all that my lovely home state of South Carolina has legalized raw milk for human consumption, and that it's adjacent to the lovely state of Georgia. Thank you, dear South Carolina.

P.S. My piano sounds great!
