How child training works

Yesterday morning, while New Daddy was brushing his teeth, Precious dropped a sliver of well-used soap into the potty. When he glanced at her, she had her hand in the toilet trying to retrieve the soap. He scooped her up like a dirty rag (about two feet from his person) and called me to come wash her hands. After I washed her hands, I took her back to the potty, pointed to the soap, gave her a few spats, grinning the whole time, and told her not to put things in the potty. We flushed the soap.

New Daddy reported this morning that while he was brushing his teeth and keeping an eye on her, she peered for a long time into the potty, leaning way over the toilet bowl. Then, she took a step back, shook her head no-no, and walked away.

It was funny to watch, but that's how child training works! And, it works.

P.S. Scoot on over to Aunt Mo's for some great news! And Bro. Luke's wife had their girl a week ago-- in the minivan on the way to the midwife. :D Congratulations, y'all!

Sharon,
I could almost picture her looking intently into the potty, shaking her head and walking away. Sooo cute.
