You're not going to believe this

Okay, so you probably will, but we're still incredulous....

New Daddy finished the brakes last night!!! He replaced the whole passenger's side brakes in only 3.5 hours. "Goes to show what you can do when you know what you're doing, and you have the right tools," he said. (no trips to the auto parts store , no trips to the internet, and no Haynes manual in sight) Yay!!

So, when I cranked up the car to test drive it at 1:00 AM, it rolled backwards. And you know what? The brakes work. This happened twice. Then, I looked down, and the gear shift was in reverse, to keep the car from rolling while it was jacked up. "Hmmm," we thought, and took it out of reverse. Enter New Daddy into the driver's seat. The car would not go into gear. Then, *bling*, New Daddy remembered in the final trips to work before he replaced the brakes, the clutch was barely holding, and he was praying that he'd make it! So, after 228K miles, my sweet lil' Honda finally needs a new clutch! We are so thankful that it didn't go out on the highway, or out in the middle of nowhere. Instead, it finally died in the comfort of our driveway, where New Daddy will shortly be jacking the car up again.

I told New Daddy that the clutch would probably be easier to replace than the brakes, only because the brakes are so complicated :).

New developments on the baby front
Precious said "apple" yesterday!!! While she was eating shaved apple for the first time yesterday, I said it over and over, high and low, mean and nice, staccato and legato, etc. She was laughing so hard at me! Later, when I was relating this to Aunt Ma on the phone, Precious was right next to me. So, she leaned over and said "AA-puh"!! Oh, so cute and smart!!
