Last night, an unusual thing occurred; I didn't cook. For New Daddy's birthday, we went out to an Italian restaurant that we had gotten takeout from a few times before. We were surprised to find out that his birthday dinner was on the house!

What actually prompted me to post, though, was hearing the humming sound of New Daddy's birthday present: a Lentek Bug Vacuum. Believe me, this is a necessity for his home office in our basement! Hmmm, did I mention that this room is also our guest bedroom? Ah, well, never fear, for the bug vac is now in residence. He just called up, "It works!" Good news, indeed.

Today, I've been working on small decorating projects around the house. I have hung pictures that have been propped against the wall for ages, stained the wooden letters of Bubby's name, attempted to tea-stain the denim valance for Bubby's window, and arranged fake silk flowers to go in the decorative flower bucket that I got half-off at Target last week. Did I also mention that I stopped by Michael's craft store after we ate out last night?

We're going to have several groups of guests throughout the next month, and the idea of all of this company has spurred me to clean my house and decorate. Monday, I made a sizable donation to a charity (more quantity than quality), but I'm afraid that my decoration skills are still laughable. But, this lack doesn't seem to be a bad thing. After visiting one gorgeously appointed place, I was bemoaning my un-decorative self to New Daddy. He, on the other hand, was quite pleased that I am not overly motivated to add great flourish to our home. He pointed out that he kept grazing his head on the gargantuan wreath over the toilet. It appears that I am still just right for my Mr. Right.

Here's another example of "If e'er two were one, then we..."

The Mother's Day cards that we got for our mothers-- on separate visits to Hallmark. I was shocked when I saw that they were from the same "series," with the same beaded accents, ribbon styles, and color schemes.

Well.

I was impressed.
