Before we drove past (or stumbled upon) the Etowah Indian Mounds two months ago, I had never seen anything like them. The first day we saw them, the weather had been a little drizzly, and they were shrouded in light mist. Beautiful! However, when we went Saturday with New Daddy's family to check them out close-up, it was a breezy, crystal-clear, early spring day. They were still beautiful, but not quite as picturesque.

Mound C is the only mound that people are buried in (and only the elite). The other mounds were for temples and chiefs' homes.
