Mid-November update

Almost two months later... we're here, still breathing, and things might be slowing down a little.  CC is out for the year, Aunt Ma got married to now-Uncle J, and the basement is coming along nicely.  Drywall is up, most of it has paint, and only one more room needs flooring.  That should be happening this weekend-- after we level the high spots in the floor.  There's always something.  The time change and earlier darkness have also made us feel like going to bed earlier, so we think we might be getting more sleep than we were during the summer.

Several things have happened recently that have made food much easier to procure.  If a Trader Joe's would open down the road (I've requested one!), my foodie life would be almost perfect.  But our raw milk farmer is now delivering to our hometown, and Azure Standard just expanded to a delivery that's only ten minutes away.  Add to that the CC location that opened five minutes up the road, and it appears that mileage on the van is increasing at a slower rate than it was a year ago.

Last Saturday, I went to my first International Weston A. Price conference!  It was in Atlanta, the gracious New Daddy agreed to babysit, and it was quite possibly the best day of my life.  I made up a "session sandwich"-- in which two heavily informative sessions were interspersed with a fascinating talk on chickens and composting/soil health.  The first was on cancer with Dr. Tom Cowan, and the latter on GAPS with Kim Schuette.  Amazing case studies all around.  Tears of amazement.

At the banquet that evening, at my table was a lady who had been cured of liver cancer as a patient of one of the doctors speaking at the conference.  I sat ten rows (yes, I counted) behind Dr. Mercola during Dr. Cowan's session.  It was a day surrounded by some of the most inspiring people in the health world and others who are passionate about feeding their families nourishing food.  I'm planning to type my notes out and post them for others to glean from.

Oh, and there was kombucha on tap.  No where else would you find this.

It's been a full, hard-working and learning two months!  The break from the blog has been justified.  Until next time...
